WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY SESSION?
Because of my busy schedule, it's best to book as soon as possible. I recommend booking at the begining of your second trimester. However, it's never too early to book and I'm happy to schedule last minute sessinos if time permits.
IS THERE A RETAINER?
Yes, A $300 retainer and a signed contract is required to secure your booking.
WHAT IF MY BABY COMES LATE OR EARLY?
Don't sweat it!! I schedule a very limited number of sessions each month. Once your retainer has been paid, we will schedule your newborn session on your due date. This date is tentative. Once your baby has arrived simply give me a ring and we'll finalize a date for your session within the first eight days of life.
IS YOUR PRICING NEGOTIABLE?
There is so much that goes into a newborn session, ask my mama's, they'll tell you :)! My newborn sessions can last anywhere from two to three hours depending on babies needs. I like to take my time and perfect each pose to ensure that the end product is everything you imagine it to be. Following the session, I take the time to hand edit each of your images delicately and precisely, paying close attention to all of the little details. The time, patience, detail and precision needed to ensure not only a successful session, but an incredible experience from start to end is incredibly important to me. It is because of all these things that my pricing is firm and not negotiable.
I'm still unsure, can you hold my spot?
I completely understand that choosing the right photographer for you is a difficult decision to make. Unfortunately, due to my busy schedule, sessions cannot be held without a signed contract and retainer. If you have any questions or concerns don't hesistate to drop me a line!
When will my session be?
Maternity sessions take place 30-35wks. Newborn sessions are designed for babies ten days and younger. That means your session will take place sometime within the first two weeks of life. During this time, babies are much sleepier and retain their newborn curl, therefore making them easier to pose. After fourteen days, newborns tend to stay awake longer, develop baby acne and are a little more alert. If you are overdue, we will schedule your session as soon as possible.
Do I need to bring anything?
For newborn and milestone baby sessions there is no need to bring anything along with you. I have a variety of props including blankets, buckets, baskets, headbands, hats and more. It isn't necessary for you to bring anything with you, but if there is something of sentimental value don't hesitate to bring it along. We will try to incorporate it if we can. For maternity sessions you will bring items from home, but will also have access to a variety of dresses and wraps in studio.
Can I pick the poses?
For newborn sessions, you are more than welcome to give me an idea of which poses are your favourite. I make no guarantees that we will be able to achieve specific poses. Each pose depends entirely on the baby. Sometimes babies don't like their arm sitting a certain way or being on their side. When I pose, I will usually go through sometimes two or three variations depending on the baby's temperament.
Do you capture Cake smash and milestone baby sessions?
I do! One of the best parts of being a photographer is getting to watch my clients babies grow. Milestones are typically broken down into three sections: 3mos (smiles and giggles), 6mos (sitting up & laughing) and 1yr (first birthday/cake smash). If you're interested in having your babies first year of life captured -- please contact me directly for pricing.
I'm interested in having you capture my birth, what do I need to do?
The decision to have your birth documented is one you wont regret. First, contact me as soon as possible. I only accept two birth clients each month. As such, my birth photography calendar tends to book three to four months in advance. I have shot all types of births, from hospitals, to home births and birthing centre births. Some mama's get a little nervous when it comes to having a birth photographer present, I can assure you, I have seen anything and everything. Please contact me directly to discuss birth photography.
